Pets We Treat
In a recent survey, it is estimated that 43% of households in the United States have at least one dog, and close to 36% of households have one or more cats. At Tampa Veterinary Hospital, we realize that not everyone considers themselves a 'Dog' or a 'Cat' person. Our doctors love to see a wide variety of species that don't walk on four legs. Of course, we see plenty of dogs and cats, but we also see what some people would consider non-traditional pets.
Not only are our specially trained veterinarians skilled at diagnosing illness or disease, they can also discuss with you a variety of needs for your special pet including diet, environment, handling and other issues which are important to keeping them healthy and happy.
We have many years of experience, training and expertise in caring for:
Birds- including, but not limited to:
- Chickens, Geese, Ducks
Non-Venomous Reptiles including:
Most varieties of saltwater and freshwater
Other Small Mammals:
- Sugar Gliders
- Guinea Pigs, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils
- De-Scented Skunks
- Prairie Dogs
Species we do not see:
- Pigs/Pot Bellied Pigs
- Cayman, Alligators
- Venomous snakes of any kind
- Wildlife of any kind
If you do not see your pet on this list, please give us a call at 813-254-3031 to inquire if we can assist you, or refer you to another veterinarian who can care for your pet. The species noted above are not eligible for our $5 new patient exam.
